Oren Forgette

Oren Forgette, born on June 7, 2001, in Buffalo, New York, is a dedicated student at SUNY Geneseo pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics with a minor in Mathematics. His academic endeavors and extracurricular involvement paint the picture of a committed and versatile individual poised to contribute significantly to his field.

Oren's educational foundation was established at City Honors High School in Buffalo, where he completed the rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and earned his NY Regents Diploma in June 2019. During this time, he also honed his leadership skills as co-captain of the rowing team, demonstrating his athletic prowess and ability to inspire and lead his peers.

At SUNY Geneseo, Oren has maintained a steady 3.0 GPA amidst a challenging academic program. He anticipates graduation in May 2024. A deep engagement with complex scientific concepts and a proactive attitude toward learning and research characterize his approach to his studies.

During the summer of 2023, Oren enhanced his research skills through participation in the NASA NY Space Grant. Working under the guidance of Dr. Pellerin, he was involved in a project focusing on enhancing RGB images of galaxies using data from the Hubble Space Telescope. This work aimed to understand planetary nebulae further, contributing to the scientific community's knowledge of space phenomena.

Oren also tackled a technically demanding project that involved creating a system using Labview software to control two-stepping motors. This innovative project, which aimed to synchronize a toy car with a live-stream camera, showcased his technical skills and ability to apply complex theories to practical solutions.

Beyond his academic achievements, Oren has displayed significant leadership through his role as an Eagle Scout, where he led a project to build a deer enclosure, thus contributing to local environmental conservation efforts. He also serves as the Sports Chair of the Zeta Beta Xi Fraternity at SUNY Geneseo, organizing sporting events that promote fitness and teamwork.

Oren's work experience includes roles at the Cheesy Chick Cafe & Food Trucks and as a delivery driver for DoorDash, where he has developed vital customer service and logistical skills.

Outside of academics and professional work, Oren continues pursuing rowing, reinforcing discipline and teamwork. He. He has also cultivated an interest in stand-up comedy, broadening his communication skills and creative expression.

As he moves towards completing his undergraduate studies, Oren Forgette demonstrates the qualities of an ambitious student who effectively balances rigorous academic research with leadership and community service, marking him as a promising young professional in the scientific community.
